Although I registered this domain almost two months ago, I’ve not been able to bring myself to publish my first blog post. So I’ve decided to start this blog by writing a blog post about starting this blog. It might be a good way to break the ice.
I wanted to start this blog for the reason most people do – to share what I know or think. I think I know a thing or two about technology and personal finance. I’m always eager to learn more about these two domains. And I love when both of these come together.
You can find countless blogs on each of these topics. There are people who have made it their passion and reached master levels, and are now sharing their valuable ideas and knowledge with people like you and me. I’m just a beginner and have a long way to go. All I’m going to do is share my journey with all of you. Maybe you’ll find something worth reading.
Let me give you a short introduction about myself. I’m a single guy from India in his late twenties. I’m a computer science engineer and currently working for the government. The work doesn’t require my computer degree but we do make use of computers in our day to day job.
I’ve always been passionate about finance and technology. I started investing in mutual funds about three years ago right out of my first paycheck. Then after I got my feet wet, I started allocating a small part of my savings to buy shares directly. Recently I’ve started day trading as well. My dream is to run my own business someday, preferably a restaurant, and say goodbye to the comfortable government job. I’m not really sure if that will work out well. But I do have a plan.
Whatever the future holds for me, I surely have gained a certain set of skills over several years through reading, listening, and experimenting a lot. It pains me when I see people around myself devoid of basic financial knowledge. Most of them are clueless about interest rates, inflation, insurance, long term and short term financial goals, etc. I was in the same boat a few years ago. I’ve toiled away for hours at end reading books, blogs, lectures and watching countless videos before it began to make sense to me. I’ll just try to share here what little I know, and whatever I’m going to learn as well.
Apart from that, I love technology. It helps me earn my bread and butter, and also helps me fulfill my hobbies and passion. So you may find a post or two about tech in various forms, be it gadgets, web services, apps etc.
Comment if you like something, or even if you don’t. 🙂
